·        IntegraCD Module 2: IntegraCD Facilitator

·        IntegraCD Module 3: Life Skills

IntegraCD Module 1: Overall Concept

The module is designed to introduce and widen participants’ perspectives in poverty alleviation through integral community development.  Set in the context of “From Nature To Power” the module gives a panoramic view of more than forty concepts:

IntegraCD Module 2: IntegraCD Facilitator

The module equips potential IntegraCD Facilitators in acquiring the three core values: culture sensitivity, grassroots identification and volunteerism.  In addition, participants learn how to mobilize low-income communities to carry out IntegraCD projects.

IntegraCD Module 3: Life Skills

An IntegraCD Facilitator without life skills is like a craftsman without tools.  Using the framework of “From Nature To Power,” Vision Network Society has identified more than forty IntegraCD concepts for poverty alleviation in Asia.  Each life-skill module is specially designed to give you the technical details of an IntegraCD concept.  Participants will gain valuable insights from field practitioners.

IntegraCD Certificate is presented to the participant who completes a module.

Certification Of IntegraCD Facilitator

To be certified as IntegraCD Facilitator, you need to complete module 1, 2 and 3 (total 24 hours).  Those who successfully complete the program will be awarded the IntegraCD Facilitator’s Certificate.  To practice what you have learned, you’re encouraged to deliver an IntegraCD project in any IntegraCD Center.

Description Of IntegraCD Modules

Microenterprise Development

A basic IntegraCD concept, MED encompasses:

         Microfinance (microsavings, microcredit, microinsurance, microremittances).

         Microenterprise (family-based, center-based, community-based).

         Microfranchising.

         Microleasing.

         Microbatering.

Vocational and business training (MED Incu).

If you're concerned about creating jobs for the poor, take this module.  Because of time limitation, the MED module is delivered in two modules (MED—Microfinance; MED—Mricofranchising & Microleasing).

Entrepreneurial Marketing (MKT)

Going to market to study entrepreneurial marketing!  This business module trains you to be a trainer for microentrepreneurs.  Participants create teaching aids which will be used in the field.

Water And Sanitation (WAS--Water Module)

Over 1 billion people lack access to safe water and every year an estimated 5 million die from water-related diseases.  Working towards Millennium Development Goals, this water module introduces various types of water purification, including the SkyHydrant.  Participants create WAS teaching aids which will be used in the field.

Water And Sanitation (WAS--Sanitation Module)

Over 2.6 billion people don't have proper sanitation.  This sanitation module introduces 7 types of toilets, including the VIP latrine and APT loo.  Participants create WAS teaching aids which will be used in the field.

Where There Is No Doctor (DOC)

Don't miss this medical module taught by medical personnel.  Covering a wide range of basic medical topics, the module equips you to teach community health education (CHE) to villagers.  Participants create CHE teaching aids which will be used in the field.

Nutrition (NUT)

Using the Moringa plant as an example, the NUT module equips you to teach nutrition workshops in low-income communities.  Participants create NUT teaching aids which will be used in the field.

Teaching English (ENG)

Taught by qualified instructors, the module and practicum prepare participants to teach spoken and written English to nationals.  Participants create teaching aids which will be used in the field.

Appropriate Technology (APT)

A down-to-earth module, APT utilizes existing technological know-how to improve the living conditions of needy communities.  APT projects are designed to suit particular people and situations economically and culturally, relying much on local skills and resources.  Includes APT cookstove, AgriDiesel technology, ram pump, biogas, etc.

Disaster Recovery (DRY)

Disasters often occur when we least expect them.  This module equips participants with DRY skills to serve in devastated regions.  It prepares crisis-prone communities for emergencies.  All centers should be trained in DRY.  Can a center sit and do nothing in the midst of a disaster?  Includes setting up SkyHydrant, first-aid, burying the dead with respect and without catching contagious diseases, etc.  The module is for the die-hard volunteers.  Participants create DRY teaching aids which will be used in the field.  DRY prepares the community to act calmly and wisely, instead of reacting in mass hysteria.

AgriVenture (AGV)

An extremely useful module, AgriVenture includes sustainable farming and animal husbandry.  Includes urban agriculture, Sloping Agriculture Land Technology (SALT), System For Rice Intensification (SRI), poultry farming, etc.

Ginger Farming (GIN)

This gingerly module enables you to facilitate ginger farming as an income-generating project (IGP).

Poultry Farming (POU)

Fear not bird flu!  As part of AgriVenture, the module equips you to begin with a backyard poultry farming (with biosecurity measures).   Whether there is bird flu or not, people will continue to eat chicken, thus poultry farming can be an income-generating project (IGP).  Forget about human psychology; instead you'll be studying chicken, duck and quail psychology.

Fish Farming (FISH)

This fishy module imparts fishy tips on how to raise fish as an income-generating project (IGP).  With proper farming techniques and active management for pond culture, the IGP benefits economically from the high yields in each harvesting cycle.

AgriVenture Wetland (WET)

The use of wetland to remove contaminants is called phytoremediation.  Plants can be used to degrade/remove contaminants such as pesticides, solvents, crude oil & polyaromatic hydrocarbon.  The AgriVenture Wetland, a constructed treatment wetland, employs nature to treat wastewater for irrigation.  You'll learn the 3 P: Process, plants and pest control.  In addition, you'll discover the hidden life of the wetland.

Self-Reliant House (SRH)

A Self-Reliant House is a small, simple and sustainable house using the FAITH Garden (Food Always In The Home), appropriate technology (APT) and microenterprise development (MED). As its name implies, a self-reliant house aims to be eco-friendly, energy-saving and cost-effective.  The objective is to inspire rural/suburban families to be proud owners of self-reliant houses with bountiful vegetable gardens.

FAITH Garden (FG)

A popular module, FAITH Garden stands for “Food Always In The Home.”  This food-security program is designed to provide partial solution to Asian poverty.  Through practicum, participants acquire basic vegetable gardening skills.  Practicum is usually conducted on Sat mornings.  Today, some refugee camps conduct FAITH Garden because urbanized people don't know how to farm.

Please note that the FG module is structured differently (4 Thu night workshops and 3 Sat morning practicum).

Participating in IntegraCD can be an enriching experience!  Imagine delivering a IntegraCD project somewhere in Asia.

* To be certified as a IntegraCD Facilitator, a participant needs to complete the IntegraCD program (Total Concept, 3 x Individual IntegraCD concepts and CD Facilitator). Integra CD certificates are awarded to those who successfully complete the Integra CD programme. However, the participant may choose to take any module without going through the certification

IntegraCD program allows participants to gain a better understanding of the workings of the IntegraCD concept in lifting Asian communities out of poverty. It challenges their understanding of IntergraCD's approach to work with low-income communites in creating a sustainable future.

The module is set in the context of Asian poverty and working towards the Millennium Development Goals (agreed by the United Nations in 2000).

IntegraCD Module 1: Overall Concept

An eight hours module aims to provide participants with an advance understanding in one selected concept (of their choice) of the IntegraCD Total Concept as well as practical tools to integrate scenario planning into the strategic thinking process. The workshop uses a blend of theory and hands-on practice to introduce a tool designed to engage participants in thinking collectively about the community development through the selected concept.

Since poverty causes can be complicated, there is a need for various IntegraCD concepts to work together. Participants are encouraged to learn at least 3 different IntegraCD concepts.

At the end of the process, participants will be better equipped to anticipate and deal with the challenges of community development, and to harness the IntegraCD opportunities that arise in lifting Asian communities out of poverty.

The varied class mix and case study methodology provide a good platform for discussion and the exchange of diverse perspectives. Much of the training is facilitated by highly experienced practitioners who speak with authority and offer first-hand knowledge and experience.

With the objective of poverty alleviation in Asia, IntegraCD encompasses more than ten different concepts: Microenterprise development (MED),  AgriVenture (AGV), appropriate technology (APT), information technology (IT), community health education (CHE), water & sanitation (WAS), social concern (SOC), sports (SPT), education (EDU), social enterprise (SEN), Business Strategic (BUS), eco-tourism (ECOT), disaster recovery (DRY), etc.

IntegraCD Facilitator (Essential module if you wish to be certified as a IntegraCD Facilitator.)

You'll learn how an IntegraCD Center is set up to empower low-income families and communities in Asia.  Besides learning CD principles, you acquire skills in facilitating CD projects.  The module is set in the context of Asian poverty and working towards the Millennium Development Goals.
