The Member of Parliament Amy Khor launched the first Microenterprise Development Conference in Singapore (2003). The conference attracted more than 300 local and overseas participants. To this day, VNS continues to empower low-income people in Singapore and Asia.

As follow-up to the Microenterprise Development Conference, VNS and David Middleton established a microcredit group in West Bali. Today, the microcredit program continues to benefit the Balinese community.

The bountiful FAITH Garden (Food Always In The Home) at Nan Hua School was featured on TCS (Television Corporation of Singapore) Channel 8 (2004). Francis Lim, our Pioneer for the FAITH Garden in Singapore, trained students and teachers to set up the vegetable garden.
- Subsequently, the FAITH Garden at Singapore Bible College won the third prize from the National Parks Community In Bloom (2005). The national event was organized by the National Parks Board of Singapore. The Minister for National Development, Mr. Mah Bow Tan, came to VNS booth to congratulate team members. Later in the day, our volunteers planted the Sea Morning Glory along the banks of Bedok Reservoir.
Besides beautifying, Sea Morning Glory stabilizes the slopes of the Bedok Reservoir.
VNS displayed the aquaponic system at Bedok Reservoir.

The Nias Livelihood Center received approval from Dr. Kuntoro Mangkusubroto who reported directly to the Indonesian President on post-Tsunami development (2006).

Today, the Nias Center is managed by the Indonesians.

The Governor of Southern Sumatra visited the Self-Reliant House in Tanah Abang. The significant event was featured by three Indonesian TV channels and three Indonesian newspapers (2006). The Governor of Sumatra flew in by helicopter to officiate the opening of the smallest house located in an area of 120 square meters. Consequently, the vision of the Self-Reliant House spread as far as Southern Sumatra.

The Member of Parliament Ong Kian Min witnessed the transformation of waste cooking oil into biodiesel (2006). As part of National Day celebrations, VNS hosted an exhibition From Nature To Power at Temasek Polytechnic on August 2006. The landmark event featured how waste cooking oil could be transformed into biodiesel. AgriDiesel (VNS’ brand of biodiesel) was pumped into the AgriDiesel van which was test-driven round the campus.

VNS demonstrated the concept of Eco-Communities at the Eco-Products International Fair, Suntec City (2006). The international event gave VNS the opportunity to showcase AgriDiesel, IntegraCD Wetland and Self-Reliant Home. The three projects exhibited how ecology and international development can work together.

The Minister of Environment and Water Resources, Dr. Yaacob Ibrahim, gave credit to VNS for the Constructed Treatment Wetland at Commonwealth School (2008). Subsequently, the Constructed Treatment Wetland won awards from PUB, Shell Petroleum, and the Ministry of Education. The wetland project was also featured in U Channel News on 28 Apr 2009.

By 2008, VNS has facilitated more than eleven IntegraCD projects and Centers in Indonesia, East Malaysia, Myanmar, Mongolia and Nepal. More than 135 families in these countries have been empowered through IntegraCD.
