Global Engagement

Partnering with low-income communities, Vision Network Society (VNS) uses integral community development (e.g., microenterprise development, appropriate technology, self-reliant home, IntegraCD Wetland, etc.) to alleviate poverty in Asia and beyond. Striving towards the Millennium Development Goals (initiated by the United Nations to halve global poverty by 2015), our culture-sensitive volunteers are also trained in center-based disaster recovery and peacebuilding.

Millennium Development Goals ( MDG)

The MDG, endorsed by governments at the United Nations in 2000, aim to improve human well-being by reducing poverty, hunger, child and maternal mortality, ensuring education for all, controlling diseases, tackling gender disparity, ensuring sustainable development and pursuing global partnerships.

The MDG are:

Goal 1: Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger.

Goal 2: Achieve universal primary education.

Goal 3: Promote gender equality and empower women.

Goal 4: Reduce child mortality.

Goal 5: Improve maternal health.

Goal 6: Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases.

Goal 7: Ensure environmental sustainability.

Goal 8: Develop a global partnership for development.

Most VNS projects aim at the Millennium Development Goals ( MDG).
